What is a sealed system diagnostic?

When a refrigerator or freezer isn't cooling and the basic causes are ruled out, the problem lives inside the sealed refrigeration circuit — the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and refrigerant lines. Diagnosing it requires specialized equipment: gauge readings, pressure testing, and leak detection. That's why it's priced separately from a standard diagnostic.

Sealed system problems we identify: compressor failure (not starting, no compression, overheating), refrigerant leak (slow cooling loss over weeks or months), and system restriction — a clogged capillary tube or filter-drier blocking refrigerant flow. Each has a different fix and a different cost, and an accurate diagnosis here saves you from paying for the wrong repair.

Second technician assistance for heavy appliances: Starting from $150 (includes 2 hours).

Customer-Supplied Parts

Already have the part? We can install it. Labor-only service is available when you supply your own part:

ServicePrice
Labor only — standard repair with customer-supplied partFrom $155
Labor only — complex repair (sealed system, drum bearing, control)From $220
Important: customer-supplied parts carry no warranty — neither on the part nor on the labor. We can't guarantee a component we didn't source: aftermarket and used parts fail unpredictably, and a wrong or defective part can damage the appliance. If the part doesn't resolve the issue, the labor fee still applies. For guaranteed results, we recommend our OEM parts with full warranty coverage.

FAQ

Common Questions

Why can't you quote an exact price over the phone?
The same symptom can have different causes. A refrigerator that's not cooling might need a $200 fan motor or a $650 sealed-system repair. The diagnostic tells us exactly what's wrong — then you get the exact price and decide.
Does the diagnostic fee go toward the repair?
Better — on standard residential appliances we waive it completely when your repair totals $150 or more.
Are these prices final?
Ranges reflect typical jobs. Your exact price is confirmed after diagnosis and approved by you before any work begins.
What warranty do you provide?
Up to 365 days on parts, with warranty documentation provided after every completed repair.
